Before you come.
The practical questions. Room to ask your own.
Thinking about coming? Here are a few things you might be wondering. And if your question isn’t here, ask me.
Having been brought out of New Age deception myself, I understand only too well the desire to see Egypt and not be caught up in New Age nonsense. This itinerary is specifically created to help you understand the biblical worldview and Egypt’s historical role in establishing the church globally.
We do not include New Age meditation, ritual chanting, manifestation, the law of attraction or other self-determining philosophies on the trip.
While just about every Egyptian is across every New Age narrative that surfaces about pyramids, lost technologies or alien interventions, it is important to be mindful of the fact that none of it is new to them. And many have examined and rejected those philosophies as well. We must be mindful of any inherent biases we bring to Egypt, and of presuming to explain their own land to them through these narratives.
To me, an overemphasis on this is not only distracting, it is extremely disrespectful of the engineering genius, labour and socio-political achievements of the Egyptian people. But most of all, it diminishes God and His historical role—and what He is doing in this region, which is staggering even as we speak.
While we are not afraid to discuss the supernatural aspects of God’s character, His intrinsic nature and the Elohim within the biblical and archaeological material we explore—drawing on the incredible work of Dr Michael Heiser—there will not be an undue emphasis on the gods and goddesses that Egypt is renowned for.
We also take the opportunity while we are there to go deeper into the biblical account of the plagues, their impact on the culture at the time, and God’s judgement against the rebellious gods of Egypt (Exodus 12:12), His promises and His blessings. Talk about bringing Scripture to life!
Regardless of your faith orientation, you are welcome to join. Scripture, prayer and Christian worship are part of our experience together, with no pressure on anyone to participate. Nor will there be any pressure applied to any guest to attend scheduled sites, monuments, temples or tombs. All experiences are optional.
There’s enough here to explore, and of course plenty to ponder. My favourite sentence on every trip is “we don’t know”. That is the mystery of God at work and in His time, we will undoubtedly find out that and more!
Read on for the practical details.
The journey
Arrange your flights so you arrive in plenty of time to rest, recover from the long flight in, and join us for dinner in Cairo on 30 March 2027. We begin our tour early on 31 March 2027 and finish on 22 April 2027, with Sinai from 17 April. We can arrange your pre-tour and post-tour accommodation. Dinner is covered, but accommodation the night before the tour is at your own cost. And of course, pickup from the airport is part of our service.
You will glean so much from this incredible experience. And the itinerary is specifically created to help you understand the biblical worldview, and Egypt’s historical role in establishing the church globally. Regardless of your faith orientation, you are welcome to join. Prayer and worship are part of our experience together in Egypt, and you are welcome to join in and participate, but there is no pressure on anyone, ever.
This is my signature tour experience, and I’m joined by my Egyptian business partner and tour operator, Abdou Ashour. A native-born Egyptian and licensed guide with more than 20 years’ experience, he has become a cherished friend and has been helping me create these tours since 2012. After 14 years and 18,000 km travelled together, you could say we know a bit about the road! But I could not do what I do without him, and we make a formidable team.
No, but he spent time on digs growing up. He has been in the hospitality industry in Egypt for more than 30 years, so he understands care and attention. We have separate Egyptology specialists and logistics team members who join us to bring about successful tours. They specialise in their fields and are hand selected by us for their knowledge, suitability for the tour, and respect for the Christian perspective.
This varies, depending on the season. Small groups capped at a maximum of 20–25 are our preference, but we have toured with as few as 6–8 people too. All are just as enjoyable.
Yes! You are welcome to join us from any country. You’ll need at least six months’ validity on your passport from the date you arrive in Egypt, and to meet the visa and entry requirements for your nationality. I have led tours with Canadians, Australians, Brits, Kiwis and Americans over the years, and it’s wonderful to share experiences and perspectives together.
A stunning, all-inclusive Nile experience is included in our tours, with time to relax, rest and enjoy the magnificent Egyptian landscapes as we travel to each temple. On this journey, we spend four nights sailing from Aswan to Luxor. Abu Simbel isn’t part of this itinerary (this time).
Yes! Join us in Sharm el-Sheikh for 17–22 April, with a Passover Seder planned for 21 April. We’ll confirm meeting arrangements before you book flights.
Travelling comfortably
14 years on the ground in Egypt and 10 years of different international travel prove one thing: what is on offer in one part of the world is different from what is offered in others. To that end, all hotels and accommodation are hand selected for their ability to bring value to your Egypt experience. We have found that a curated selection of accommodation styles helps you experience true Egypt and true Egyptian hospitality. Sometimes a 3-star lodge run by a local family in the desert who have been doing the same thing for generations is far superior to a 5-star chain hotel that is owned by an international consortium that has no regard for the Egyptian people. The accommodation really matters to us, even if all you're doing is putting your head on a pillow.
The vast majority of people who opt into my tours are solo travellers who want to experience Egypt but not on their own. There is a single supplement option that is very generous, or you can allow us to pair you with another willing roommate to take advantage of the twin-share discount. Either option is open to you, but not always guaranteed.
We walk. A lot. Egypt is the perfect place for tone and fitness. If walking long distances isn't possible, we cater the trip for your needs, so please don't let that determine your decision. Comfy walking shoes and flats in the evenings help, and I always have some wonderful natural remedies on hand that can help with all the normal ailments, including muscular aches and pains.
No. I take people to Sinai, but I haven’t been to the top myself. It’s not for everyone, but plenty have been and have reported how magnificent it was. The following day, at any fitness level, you will be sore!
Ah, the food. This is a tiny detail, but like everything, if it isn't right it can ruin a great trip. Egyptian food is absolutely magnificent and is an eclectic Middle Eastern mix of primarily fresh food. Very little is fried, and other than the traditional bread and the rice that is served with every meal, you will find you can eat everything. Generous portions of protein, spices, pulses, and lots of fresh veges, salads and the very best fruit you will have anywhere. You'll love the wide array of fresh food the Egyptian people thrive on. Western dishes are available in the main centres, but for the best experience stick to the traditional food in Egypt and you won't go wrong.
Comfortable walking shoes are a good start! Think practical clothing for our days out and modest dress for churches and monasteries. We’ll cover the details in your journey information.
Your safety is our prime responsibility, and Abdou’s main objective throughout the tour. In over 20 years, he has had zero incidents that require any concern. We use the tour as an opportunity to help you navigate and understand the cultural differences between the West and the Egyptians. Be prepared to go home with Arabic songs in your heart and maybe even learn a few Egyptian words!
I’ve written about travelling in Egypt in Egypt for the Discerning Traveller — A Christian Woman’s Perspective.
Inclusions and booking
We offer an extensive array of inclusions that help you let go of the hassle of travel and enjoy those insta-moments entirely. We have found that an all-inclusive trip is the way to provide peace of mind while you’re creating treasured memories.
So all transfers, airport pickup, domestic flights, your Nile Cruise, most meals and even bottled water are taken care of.
But if you want to know more, see the full itinerary package and inclusions HERE.
No—but a comprehensive list of what is not included is found HERE.
Tipping is customary and expected, normally around LE10–20 for small everyday tips (approximately A$0.27–A$0.54 at September 2026 exchange rates). A separate tip is recommended for Abdou, which is customary. More guidance on tipping and when and how to do it is provided on the tour.
We do indeed, these can be found HERE.
You arrange your international flights, visa and travel insurance separately. Before booking flights, get in touch so we can confirm the arrival and departure timings and that the tour is going ahead. Visa requirements depend on your nationality; your nearest Egyptian embassy or consulate can advise. I strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance for your journey, including the activities you choose to do.
This is Egypt, and we have come to understand flexibility is the key to a wonderful experience. We may adjust the order of visits or daily timings as local conditions require. Any significant changes are handled in line with our booking terms.
I often design bespoke Egypt tours for families, couples and solo travellers who aren’t able to join my group tours. Reach out with your preferred dates and what you’d love to experience, and we can talk about a journey that works for you.
